Looks like the NBA will have to Fear the Deer for several more years as two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly signed a supermax deal, worth five years and $228.2 million – the largest deal in NBA history – with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The deal, which locks in the league's best player in Milwaukee for what should be his prime years and helps cement the Bucks' place as a Finals contender for the next several years, was first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Breaking: Giannis Antetokounmpo says he is signing a contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis then confirmed the signing with a tweet of his own Tuesday afternnoon, shortly after the first reports broke.
This is my home, this is my city.. I’m blessed to be able to be a part of the Milwaukee Bucks for the next 5 years. Let’s make these years count. The show goes on, let’s get it. ð¤ðð½ pic.twitter.com/895tCBE9RK — Giannis Ugo Antetokounmpo (@Giannis_An34) December 15, 2020
Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Bucks in 2013 with the 15th pick, as an intriguing but unknown and raw talent from Greece. Debuting at the age of 18 as a scrawny but charismatic and explosive player with an incredible backstory and lots of potential, Giannis quickly developed over the decade into one of the most exciting, dynamic and overall best players in the NBA, earning two MVP awards, four All-Star game appearances, a Defensive Player of the Year award and two All-NBA first team honors – all before the age of 25.
Giannis won over Milwaukee and the NBA not only with his impressive on-court play but also his off-the-court personality, charming in press conferences with bad jokes, tweeting about his love of smoothies and other foods, being playfully himself, showing his love and appreciation for his growing family and the local community, and joining in the recent Black Lives Matter protests over the summer.
And now Milwaukee will get another several years of getting to cheer on Giannis and the rest of the Antetokounmpo clan, on and off the court. Sorry, Golden State.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
