After 11 years in business, The Loaded Slate, 1137 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St., posted to social media that the restaurant and lounge closed for good on Sunday evening.
The Loaded Slate opened in 2011 and was known for its chalkboard tables and popular mix of bar fare and libations.
In April, a fatal shooting took place in the bar killing 30-year-old Shannon Freeman, who was a father and the head chef at City Lights Brewing.
The emotionally-charged post on Facebook reads, "One simply does not leave a good party before closing time. But as the lights go up and the music goes down, it's time to hang it up and head on out. And as bittersweet as it is, that time has come for us ..."
