The Milwaukee Art Museum brings back its Lakeside event series, the museum announced Tuesday.
This year’s family fun takes place over three weekend-long events – July 29-30, Aug. 12-13 and Aug. 19-20 – that bring together art, music, yoga and more, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
The series got its start in the summer of 2021, as Milwaukee Art Museum worked to bring people back outdoors to the lakefront at a time when the pandemic was limiting inside interactions. It has continued each summer since.
In addition to art-making experiences with Kohl’s Art Studio staffers and Embody Yoga – which will take part all three weekends – there will also be meditation with Sound Bowl Healing with Melissa Blue and Sound Bowl with Ni’Sea Earth.
Ko-Thi Dance Company will perform one weekend, Radio Milwaukee’s DJ Dori Zori will host a kids disco set on another weekend and Rooted MKE will lead a story hour on yet another.
True Skool will host a DJ and dance takeover and there will also be a bus mural unveiling by Milwaukee Art Museum’s ArtXpress interns, too.
Musical performers include Roxie Beane, Skai Academy, Painted Caves, DJ DRiPSweat, Orlando Peña, HYFIN DJ A-BIZ, Aidan Brusubardis, We 3 Ukes featuring Milwaukee Steve, Javier Red’s Imagery Converter, Father Sky, The Anne Heaton Band and Betsy Ade & the Well-Known Strangers.

The events take place on the east lawn of the Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Dr., facing the lakefront.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
