Halloween may be over, but the Green Bay Packers came out in costume for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers: They were dead ringers for the 2018-19 Packers.

A scuffling offense that couldn't get a single drive going to save their lives and couldn't keep Aaron Rodgers upright? Check. A bend-don't-break defense that eventually broke? Check. A generally boring game that wasn't very competitive even when it was just a two-possession game? Check. The only thing missing was Mike McCarthy getting massages during the team meetings leading up to this grave disappointment – though, in fairness, the Chargers are not a 3-5 team. Ransacked by early injuries and some classic Chargers bad luck, they finally played up to their potential Sunday.

I think I speak for us all when I say we'd like to file this game away as quickly as possible (and then burn the file cabinet and salt the ashes), so we'll make this quick: Here are eight memorable images from a game you've almost certainly tried to forget.

1. Sombrero, where were you when we needed you?!

I bet every cent that was in my bank account after seeing this photo of Aaron Jones rocking the beloved sombrero. When the man wears the sombrero, the Packers roll – or so I thought. That's $17 I'm never getting back – and now Aaron Jones may have to find some new lucky headgear. Maybe one of the big tall black furry caps that the guards at Buckingham Palace wear?

2. At least we had fun before the game

In a season full of fun personalities, Jamaal Williams' pregame ritual of salsa-ing and dancing his way around the end zone is low-key the best.

3. Lambeau Field West

The Packers faithful always travel well, but Sunday's game in Los Angeles was predicted to be even more green and gold than usual thanks to the fact that nobody in Los Angeles is a Chargers fan – and all of the old Chargers fans from their days in San Diego have bailed since the time threw them the middle finger for L.A. Add in a crappy temporary field that's meant for futbol, not football, and you had a home game on the road for the Packers. Too bad the team didn't give their fans much of a show ...

4. Grounded

The "Aaron for MVP" train came to a brutal and unexpected stop on Sunday as Rodgers put up a mere 161 yards through the air with a late, essentially garbage time touchdown to pad the stats. But while Rodgers didn't look like his precise usual self, he didn't have much help as he spent most the game getting dragged into the dirt by the Chargers' impressive pass rush, led by Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram III.

5. An old friend ...

The defense was, in general, ugly on Sunday – though, credit where credit is due, they kept the Packers in the game for much of the afternoon by holding the Chargers to almost exclusively to field goals until they tired out and the dam broke – but here was one pretty moment. Za'Darius Smith's sack celebrations have been a highlight throughout the season, but yesterday's might've taken the cake: busting out the classic Grave Digger celebration that Gilbert Brown made famous in Green Bay's '90s glory years. That was the only thing on Sunday that was glorious, however.

6. This is how bad it was

The worst part about the game Sunday afternoon was that the Chargers really didn't look that much better than the Packers. Every drive, Los Angeles' third favorite football team would put together 80 yards in no time at all ... and then stall out and have to settle for a field goal. The Packers had an awful game, that's for sure, but it was just generally a bad football – so bad that, in order to try and make things interesting, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo ventured down to the sidelines at the start of the second half to commentate on the game from the field level. They lasted down there for about a drive or two before they called it a day and gave up – much like the Packers.

7. Then it got worse

You know how bad you have to be to get burned by Jim Nantz? This bad, apparently.

8. Streeeeeeeeetch

In a rare offensive highlight, in the fourth quarter, after a touchdown pass to Jamaal Williams, Aaron Rodgers did his best impression of the end of "Space Jam" on the ensuing two-point conversion, stretching like Laffy Taffy to get to the end zone and finally put up some sort of fight against the brutal Chargers defense. He did end up nabbing the two points – but it was far too little too late, as the Chargers took the ball back and milked four precious minutes off the clock. Sure, they missed the field goal at the end of the drive, but the damage was done – and so essentially was the game.

Here's to washing this game out of memory with a win next week at Lambeau Field against the Carolina Panthers.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
