For nearly 35 years, Trysting Place Pub, N71 W12980 Appleton Ave., has been a staple for the Menomonee Falls community and beyond, serving up a popular Friday night fish fry and thin crust pizza and offering up an amiable atmosphere in which to enjoy local sports games.

But, the local gathering place announced today that they have made the decision to close, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The news was announced in a post on Facebook in which owner, Sal Zizzo, pays homage to the history of the bar and restaurant, as well as offering wisdom for the future.

The post reads:

The Trysting Place Pub has called “last call” for the last time.

The Trysting Place Pub opened in the village mall shopping center in Menomonee Falls in December 1975. It was sold to the current owner Sal Zizzo on September 3, 1985. Over the past 35 years the Trysting Place Pub was relocated to the Apple run shopping center where it was doubled in size, a second location opened in Germantown, and the original location doubled in size for a second time during those 35 years.

We have endured many roadblocks including three economic downturns and 9/11. Navigating a pandemic for the past 6 months has proven impossible and so we regret to inform you that as of Tuesday September 29th the Trysting Place Pub will permanently close its doors. We will spend the next two weeks preparing for a giant rummage sale in which we will sell all furniture, fixtures, equipment, dishes, glassware, tv’s, beer signs, neons etc., down to the bare walls.

I would like to thank the millions of customers that we have served and the thousands of employees that have helped make us so successful over the past 35 years.

I’d ask you to do 2 things...

1-On Tuesday November 3rd vote out the politicians that so badly miss managed this pandemic and that left work to go on vacation rather than pass the second stimulus plan.

2-Patronize and support locally owned and operated small businesses. They desperately need your help. I will miss seeing all of our loyal customers that have become close friends and I hope to see you around town helping support those that manage to stay afloat during this trying time.

Sincerely Sal Zizzo
