Four Milwaukee bars get nods in America's 100 best beer bars list

There's another top bar list making the rounds online, and not one, but four of Milwaukee's many award-worthy bars are featured.

Draft Magazine has published their list of America's best beer bars for 2012 and Bomb Shelter, Palm Tavern, Romans' Pub and Sugar Maple all made the cut.

It's no surprise the aptly named Brew City made a good showing, but adding Bomb Shelter (which just made the list for the first time this year) is a long overdue move.

Bomb Shelter owner dies

Greg Landig, the owner of The Bomb Shelter, passed away on Friday.

For the first time in its existence, Sugar Maple, 441 E. Lincoln Ave., took our readers` pick for best bar in Bay View, narrowly beating out the Horny Hideaway. Sugar Maple is serious about beer, with 60 American craft beers on tap.

Whether it`s an upscale pub with an on-premise brewmaster or a corner bar with a vintage Pabst sign outside, Milwaukee bars try to cultivate impressive beer lists. In the opinion of OnMilwaukee.com readers, the best list in town once again belongs to Sugar Maple, 441 E. Lincoln Ave.
