Brunch guide

Note: The contents of this guide were checked for accuracy when this article was updated on Feb. 23, 2012 at 12:37 p.m. We continually update the thousands of articles on OnMilwaukee.com, but it's possible some details, specials and offers may have changed. As always, we recommend you call first if you have specific questions for the businesses mentioned in the guide.

The Monday through Friday grind hardly allows time for bacon, eggs and hashbrowns in the morning. And even if there is time to whip 'em up, they're usually scarfed down in a hurry.

That's where weekend brunches come in. Forget that alarm clock, catch some Zs and savor a hearty breakfast at these Milwaukee-area restaurants when you wake up. If we've forgotten your favorite brunch spot, please add it to the list with the talkback feature.

4th Base
5117 W. National Ave., (414) 647-8509

Who's to say the spot that offers your favorite late night glass of red or white can't be up fresh and ready the next morning? Balzac stays up late and wakes up early to serve you your morning fill of benedicts, crepes and even red wine-infused Bloody Marys. Serving brunch on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Balzac melds the classic comfort of a hearty breakfast with the cozy ambience of their Brady Street wine bar. You can order from the extensive wine list but not to worry, versions of Bloody Marys, mimosas and coffee drinks all grace the menu. Stubby's on Humboldt needs a mention. Their brunch runs long and has numerous good options! I've never encountered a wait as they seat a good number in there.
