The Milwaukee Public Museum is a museum of human and natural history that interprets the world's culture and natural heritage through collections, research, education and exhibits.

Created in 1882, the museum has many interesting exhibits such as The Streets of Old Milwaukee, The Living Oceans, The Rain Forest and Butterfies Alive.

Art and the Animal

This summer, Museum visitors will have an opportunity to view some of the best animal art in the world in a special free exhibition. This exhibit is an annual juried tour showcasing more than 60 pieces by The Society of Animal Artists, an international arts organization. This exhibit has been featured at more than 50 venues including museums and zoos, and art, cultural and science centers throughout North America. For more information, call (414) 278-2702.

Dinosaur Tales Summer Camp at MPM

Learn about the unique characteristics of dinosaurs, their relationship to modern birds and reptiles, and take the Milwaukee Public Museum’s legendary “Dinosaur Challenge.” Get a close look at real dinosaur bones and the fossils of ancient plants and animals, and discover the facts behind what caused the extinction of these fascinating creatures. Day Camp

Trek along and discover some of Wisconsin’s furriest and feathered friends. From beavers and badgers to geese and loons, learn how to use furs, feathers, bones and tracks to help identify the special characteristics of our woodland residents. Camps are $25 for members. Powwow Summer Camp

Powwow participants are famous for their use of color and dance, which help make powwows very exciting events. Learn all about native dance styles, costume regalia, music, crafts, and the importance of these impressive celebrations during this exciting camp. For more information, call (414) 278-6108.

Spark! Events for Caregivers: Native American Pow-Wow

SPARK! programs are provided free of charge by the Helen Bader Foundation to provide those affected with Alzheimer's and dementia, and their caregivers, to enjoy an exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Specially-trained Museum educators provide a sensory, interactive experiences.

The programs are followed by a half-hour coffee break hosted by volunteers to give participants and caregivers an opportunity to support and socialize.
